VPN Christmas Sales for 2023

VPN subscriptions go on sale every few months or so. I keep track of those, along with any current coupon codes, on my VPN deals page. But, those discounts, while often decent, are usually far from being the best of the best.

The real discounts only happen a few times per year.

Most of us probably know that the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales offer some of the biggest price drops. But did you know that VPN Christmas deals can be just as good?

So, if you’ve missed the end of November sales, fret not. You may be able to get the same discount over the December holiday period.

Like most of us (or so I imagine), I like saving money. So, when a big sale period rolls around, I put in my time and check up on all the VPN providers I’m aware of to see what sorts of deals they offer.

On the one hand, I like to find great prices on services I haven’t yet had a chance to play around with. Picking up a longer-term subscription at pennies to the dollar gives me plenty of time to do so.

On the other hand, I also very much look for significant discounts with VPNs I know and like. If I can extend or get a new subscription at 50% or less of the normal cost, I would be crazy not to do it (or at least, so I tell myself).

So, with that in mind, below is a list of the top VPN sales I have been able to find for this Christmas season. If you’re already looking at any of these providers, this is a great opportunity to save a bit of money.

The Xmas Deals

NordVPN [69% off]

NordVPN logo

NordVPN is one of my absolute favorite providers. It’s one of the VPNs I always keep an active subscription with (and would do so even without a sale).

Based out of Panama, this is a VPN that has an absolutely airtight no-logging policy. On the privacy front, they’re up there with the best of the best.

Based on my own speed test, NordVPN is also consistently the fastest VPN you can get. With well over five thousand servers across 61 countries, whether you want to use BitTorrent, stream video or anything in between, they have you covered.

The NordVPN client continues to be one of the simplest and easiest to use. And a generous 30-day money back period gives you plenty of time to kick the tires.

In the month of December (though the exact end date is not clear), you can get a two-year NordVPN subscription at a big 69% off. They also tack on an additional 3 free months. That comes out to just $2.99 per month and matches their biggest discount all year.

For one of the best VPN providers in the market, that’s a most excellent deal if I say so myself.

Surfshark [82% off]

Surfshark logo

Surfshark is a provider that has somehow stayed under my radar until fairly recently. But, after a thorough review of the service, I am very impressed indeed. Even though they’re not as well known (though that’s changing very quickly) this is a VPN you should not ignore – especially if you like to keep things simple.

From the ground up, Sufshark’s service is built with us users in mind. Starting with what is possibly the cleanest client app of all VPN providers, and ending with an unlimited number of concurrent connections (almost no-one does this!), there’s a lot to like here.

Surfshark’s global server coverage is excellent. They allow torrenting and are on par with other top services as far as privacy (in other words, great encryption options, absolutely zero logging).

With a huge 82% discount this Christmas, you can lock in a 28-month subscription for a bargain basement price of $1.99 per month. Surfshark sales don’t get any better than this – you can’t even buy a cup of plain black coffee for that price these days. So, for a full month of a top-notch VPN service, this is one fine deal.

PureVPN [84% off]

PureVPN logo

I mentioned NordVPN is a provider I always keep an active subscription with. PureVPN is another.

With several thousand servers in 74 countries, I doubt any of us will ever find a location we want to connect to that PureVPN doesn’t offer. All P2P protocols (including BitTorrent) are allowed, and one account lets you connect up to ten devices simultaneously.

The latest client is chock full of advanced features not many other VPNs have. These include protection from malware and viruses, ad-blocking, IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and IPS (Intrusion Prevention System), and the always useful traffic splitting.

For the 2023 holiday period, PureVPN is having a massive 84% sale on a two-year plus three months plan. In other words, you can pick the service up for just $1.97 per month. Over the ten or so years that I’ve been using this provider, I don’t recall a PureVPN promo much better than that.

This discount will be tough to beat.

CyberGhost [84% off]

CyberGhost logo

If you like your internet privacy, CyberGhost is the VPN for you. And with their latest client released just a few weeks ago, this is a provider that’s better than ever.

CyberGhost is one of the few zero logging services out there. They also operate out of Romania which, despite being part of the EU, is surprisingly privacy friendly (meaning no data retention requirements or data sharing agreements).

The last few years have been very good for CyberGhost. Not only have they continued to improve their new software, but they have also massively grown their server network to servers in countries. Server performance also continues to improve.

With seven concurrent connections allowed with a single account, peer-to-peer support, and the longest money back guarantee of all providers at 45 days, this is a VPN you can’t go wrong with.

This Christmas season CyberGhost is offering a steal of a deal. You can get the service for just $2.03 per month with a 2-year subscription. They’re even throwing in an additional 4 months for free. Combined, that translates to a pretty amazing 84% off.

ExpressVPN [49% off]

ExpressVPN logo

A VPN provider that may need little introduction, ExpressVPN is one of the most known and respected services you’ll find. With some of the best security features around packed into an oh so easy to use client, this is a VPN that’s an excellent choice for beginners and power users alike.

ExpressVPN’s performance is great, as you would expect from a well-established provider. Their network covers countries, and P2P file sharing is more than welcome. And the 30-day money refund period gives you a lot of time to take everything this VPN has to offer for a spin.

This holiday seasons, ExpressVPN has rolled out a 15-month subscription at a very respectable 49% off. While not the biggest savings when compared against other services, if ExpressVPN has been on your radar, this is their best sale of the year and one I wouldn’t easily pass over.

StrongVPN [66% off]

StrongVPN logo

For a VPN provider that has been around since 1995, StrongVPN is definitely on the smaller side. They simply chose not to grow too much and stay low key, and that’s working very well for them.

Thanks to their relatively low profile, StrongVPN manages to mostly fly under the radar of anyone who would prefer VPNs didn’t exist. Think countries like China or companies like Netflix.

On the downside, the smaller size means fewer servers. Just over 30 countries is what StrongVPN offers. Performance is more than good enough, albeit not exceptional. But despite their size shortcomings, depending on how you intend to use a VPN, they may still be worth considering (low key can be a very good thing).

The StrongVPN Xmas sale gives you 66% off their most popular yearly plan. I’ll take a two-thirds off regular price deal any day.

IPVanish [77% off]

IPVanish logo

Many consider IPVanish one of the best VPN providers around. And while I don’t use them too much personally, I don’t disagree.

Despite being US owned and operated, IPVanish has an unambiguous zero logging policy. Have you noticed the pattern yet how most of the best VPN providers don’t log?

Offering excellent performance across their 56 country server network, IPVanish has better global coverage than most of us will need. P2P traffic is allowed as are ten concurrent connections. IPVanish also tends to be one of the more innovative VPN operators, taking your privacy to a whole new level with features like IP cycling.

If you’ve missed the Black Friday sale, you’re in luck. IPVanish is offering the same discount (which, by the way, is the best discount all year) for the holiday season. The special is a 2-year + 3 months free subscription for just $2.99 per month. That’s 77% off their regular price.

VyprVPN [44% off]

VyprVPN logo

Over the last little while, VyprVPN has turned things around big time. They’re now a independently verified no-log provider, have a sleek new multi-platform client, and have become much better at unblocking most video streaming services (including Netflix and the BBC iPlayer).

Basically, regardless of what you’re looking to do with a VPN, they’re now a very worthy contender.

Anonymity and security are both top-notch with VyprVPN thanks to their privacy-friendly location of Switzerland and use of the latest and greatest technologies. VyprVPN has even developed their own protocol called Chameleon, which does an excellent job of getting through VPN firewalls in schools, businesses, and authoritarian countries like China.

VyprVPN owns their entire server network, which currently spans 63 countries. Their server speeds are excellent too and more than quick enough for high-def streaming or large downloads. P2P, by the way, is also supported.

The end of year VyprVPN sale is a three-year subscription at a very respectable 44% off. That comes out to $8.33 per month and is the best price they offered all year.

TunnelBear [58% off]

TunnelBear logo

For anyone new to the world of VPNs, TunnelBear may just be the perfect service. Not only are they easy to set up and use on all platforms, but they’re also super transparent and to-the-point about all their policies (logging and otherwise).

On the subject of logging, TunnelBear does store a bit of data. However, not nearly enough to uniquely identify anyone. They also don’t operate a huge network, with servers in only 47 countries around the world. However, the speed of those servers is something to behold.

One more thing worth mentioning is that if torrenting or P2P is your intended VPN use, you’ll need to look elsewhere (like PureVPN). TunnelBear does not allow it on any of their servers.

For the holidays, TunnelBear is matching the best offer they’ve had all year with 12-month and 24-month subscriptions at 50% off and 58% off respectively. That translates to $4.99 per month for the former and $4.17 per month for the latter.

VPN Holiday Deals Wrap Up

For many years, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have been the best times of the year to grab the deepest discounts on VPNs. Not anymore.

As the 2023 line-up of VPN Christmas deals shows, there may be a new VPN promo season sheriff in town.

When you tell me I can pick up subscriptions with some of the top providers for as much as 83% off, you have my attention. So, if you’ll now excuse me, it’s time I grab myself another VPN (yes, I may have a problem).
